Coeliac Awareness Week

COELIAC AWARENESS WEEK:

March 13-20 is Coeliac Awareness Week. Over 355 000 Australians have Coeliac Disease, however 80% of these people remain undiagnosed. People who have coeliac disease may experience many symptoms, while others may have very few. Coeliac Disease is a serious Auto-immune disease and can be triggered by foods that contain gluten (e.g. breads and cereals).

The common symptoms of Coeliac disease are:

  • Persistent Fatigue
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Anemia
  • Osteoporosis
  • Auto Immune Diseases
  • Unexplained Fertility Issues

 

Coeliac Australia is working to raise awareness of Coeliac Disease with medical professionals and the broader public.
